The Challenge
A decentralized finance protocol suffered a sophisticated cross-chain exploit that resulted in approximately $850,000 of investor funds being stolen. The attacker utilized multiple chains and anonymizing techniques to obscure the trail of funds.
Our Solution
Our forensic team analyzed on-chain data across five different blockchains to trace the flow of assets. We identified when portions of the stolen funds were sent to centralized exchanges and immediately coordinated with our exchange contacts to flag the suspicious transactions.
The Result
We successfully identified the exchange deposit addresses used by the attacker and worked with exchange security teams to freeze funds. This coordinated effort resulted in the recovery of approximately 78% of the stolen assets.
